This year looks to be one for the record books for the movie industry in Louisiana. So far 46 movies have filmed here. In all of last year, 56 were shot in the state. We've proven we have the workforce for the industry and the industry likes it here. But we can't take it for granted.

Over the last week there has been much said and printed about crime, arrests and Caddo Correctional Center. I have been praised, challenged and probably cursed. Regardless of the reaction, the truth is that we are arresting more people and crime has been reduced because of these arrests. The other truth is that we are running out of room to house prisoners.
